"Molano went full gas on the final climb" - Patient Kaden Groves times his burst to perfection and seals Vuelta stage win

Kaden Groves was the big favourite to win the first sprint stage of the Vuelta a España 2023. The Alpecin-Deceuninck rider wanted to thank his team for their hard work on a day he described as "tough":

"It was a very hard day, without the team controlling everything (I had 2 guys controlling the breakaway), we were sensational, very aggressive, always in the lead and we were able to get the victory."

The Australian spoke of the finish, in which he was left alone with Colombian Juan Sebastián Molano, whom he managed to control and overtake in the final meters to take a great stage victory on the fourth day of competition at the Vuelta a España:

"There was a very sharp turn at the end that caused a couple of riders to crash and we were ahead of Sebastián Molano and me, Sebastián went full gas on the final climb and I had enough patience and strength to overtake him in the last hundred meters".

Groves hopes it's not his last win: "It's been a great year, I won in the Giro and now I've won early in the Vuelta, I hope it's not the last win I get here."
