Throughout the 2025 Giro d'Italia there will likely be many riders forced to withdraw from the race, for various different reasons. We make a list of all riders who leave the race, as well as list out a few of the main crashes that take place during the race.

Stage 1

Juan Ayuso and Max Poole were involved in a minor crash on one of the day's climbs. However what really marked the day was the bad crash on the final descent of the day, where Mikel Landa crashed hard and was forced to abandon. Jay Vine and Corbin Strong fell alongside him. Moments later, Geoffrey Bouchard crashed in the exact same spot and was also forced to withdraw from the race.

Stage 2

The time-trial was not overly technical but still one particular corner saw a few riders slide, and Luke Plapp ended up crashing on that one, losing his chances of fighting for a top result. Mikel Landa in the meantime was confirmed to have suffered a fractured vertebrae which may end his season.

Stage 3

Nothing to report

Stage 4

Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team's Nickolas Zukowsky abandoned the Giro d'Italia with a broken collarbone, after a nasty crash that also saw the likes of Giulio Ciccone, Luke Plapp, Romain Bardet and others held up. Later on in the stage, another hard crash saw Soren Kragh Andersen come down hard, although the Dane did manage to get back on the bike and finish the stage.

Stage 5

Feeling the effects of his crash from the prior day, Soren Kragh Andersen didn't take to the startline of stage 5, leaving Mads Pedersen a rider down. In the stage itself, VF Group - Bardiani CSF - Faizanè duo Alessandro Pinarello and Filippo Magli were caught up in a crash with just over 50km to go, but both finished the day.

Stage 6

The stage started without Alessandro Pinarello, victim of a crash the previous day, who suffered a fractured scaphoid. This was unfortunately a day heavily marked by crashes.
The main crash of the day proved to be catastrophic, and led to the abandon of Jai Hindley, Dion Smith and Juri Hollmann. Jay Vine and Josef Cerny were shown on the TV broadcast to have abandoned the race, but this not officially the case.
Involved in the mass crash were also reportedly: Mads Pedersen, Adam Yates, Gerben Thijssen, Anthony Perez, Derek Gee, Daniel Martínez, Jan Tratnik, Paul Magnier, Jonathan Lastra, Lorenzo Fortunato, James Shaw, Richard Carapaz, Felix Engelhardt, Matevz Govekar, Jakob Fuglsang and Christian Scaroni
Filippo Zana and Lucas Hamilton were involved in different crashes.

Stage 7

Because of the crashes of the previous day, we've had two non-starters on the day. Jan Hirt suffered a femur fracture and Arkéa's Michel Ries was also not fit to start. Picnic PostNL's Bram Welten did not finish the stage.
During the day there was a big hit to the French hopes in this race, as both Romain Bardet and David Gaudu fell together and were relatively injured (in the knee and hand respectively) - although it was nothing race-ending.

Stage 8

Nothing to report.

Stage 9

The gravel stage has seen a lot of chaos, and this was not by chance. Besides the treacherous and narrow roads, the tension was sky-high throughout a long period of time, which caused several falls throughout the day. Koen Bouwman did not start the stage, and Andrea Pasqualon did not finish it after fracturing a collarbone.
Primoz Roglic, Tom Pidcock, Michael Storer, Brandon McNulty and Milan Fretin were among those who fell throughout the stage, with varying degrees of consequences. The amount of riders that have gone down during the day is significantly higher however...

Stage 10

Before the time trial even began a proper, Primoz Roglic crashed during his recon. Thankfully, the Slovenian didn't have too any injuries that effected him during the stage though.
As for in the stage itself, Egan Bernal crashed early on his effort, losing a place in the top 10 as a result.

Stage 11

Nothing to note.

Stage 12

It was a calmer day in the peloton today, only with one meaningful crash to note inside the final kilometers which took down Francisco Muñoz.
