Max Schachmann a late withdrawal from German World Championships squad

On Sunday, the elite men will battle it out in Glasgow for the Rainbow and the right to be called to world champion. One man who was expected to be there, representing Germany was Max Schachmann, however the 29-year-old has now withdrawn.

The BORA - hansgrohe rider will be replaced by Soudal - Quick-Step's Jannik Steimle on the eve of the race leaving Nils Politt by far the most realistic of the German hopes. The reason for Schachmann's late withdrawal is cited as being a lack of form, similarly to Australian sprint star Caleb Ewan who has also pulled out of his nation's lineup.
