Mathieu van der Poel leads Alpecin-Deceuninck's Paris-Roubaix goal, Philipsen and Groves inside lineup

Alpecin-Deceuninck are heading into Paris-Roubaix as one of the monument winners of this season, as Mathieu van der Poel conquered Milano-Sanremo. Here, they aim once again for a second monument win and bring in an ambitious lineup.

Van der Poel rode to victory at Sanremo but also to second at the E3 Saxo Classic and the Tour of Flanders, showing consistency and great form. It's a situation in which he isn't under a lot of pressure, but the race isn't as well suited as Flanders. The crashes and mechanicals for once can throw an obstacle for all riders, but without the climbs van der Poel won't have the same ease to make differences. The Dutchman was third and ninth the two occasions he raced.

He will be joined by recent Scheldeprijs winner Jasper Philipsen, and two-time stage winner Kaden Groves who will ride in support but are interesting outsiders for chasing groups in a sprint. 2018 runner-up Silvan Dillier will be part of the support lineup, who is completed by gravel World Champion Gianni Vermeersch, Michael Gogl and Jonas Rickaert.
