Marlen Reusser praises teammates to gold medal in Mixed Relay TTT Worlds: "That worked out well"

Marlen Reusser has won the European Championships time-trial back in August. At the Worlds she will be able to travel home with another gold medal, however perhaps not in the event she would expect, as Switzerland rode into the win on the Mixed Relay TTT.

“We had planned to get off to a strong start, but in such a way that everyone would survive. We had to be nice to each other so that we could continue our effort to the finish. That worked out well," Reusser said in a post-race interview.

The Team SD Worx rider set off on her effort alongside Elise Chabbey and Nicole Koller, and the trio - although unaware of at the time - would be needing to pull out all the stop to ensure the Swiss team could take the win. Reusser was the most prominent figure out of the three, and was the key element in the women's lineup to counter the offensive of the Italians.

The win at the end was taken by a mere three seconds, time which could be won or lost in the corners of the technical circuit alone. After several runner-up positions in World Championships and Olympic Games however, today was a day for celebration.
