Marlen Reusser powers into Maglia Rosa at 2025 Giro d'Italia Women with strong stage 1 TT

Marlen Reusser has stormed to the win on the stage 1 individual time trial at the 2025 Giro d'Italia Women, securing the first possession of the Maglia Rosa in style.
The Movistar Team leader was the widely predicted pre-stage favourite, and proved why with a strong performance over the 14.2km course in Bergamo, beating former teammate Lotte Kopecky by 12 seconds, with defending champion Elisa Longo Borghini finishing 16 seconds down and Kopecky's Team SD Worx - Protime teammate Anna van der Breggen the next best in 4th at 20 seconds.
With tomorrow's stage 2 already having a testing summit finish though, Reusser will have to back up her strong time trial on the slopes of the Aprica to keep the Maglia Rosa.
