Marianne Vos won the third stage of the
Giro d'Italia Donne after finishing second the day before. She launched a sprint a few hundred meters before the finish line. She maintained her lead over
Charlotte Kool and
Elisa Balsamo. It was her 31st stage win in the Giro d'Italia Donne.
"I wanted to try again after yesterday’s second place, so I'm happy it worked out. We knew there was a big chance of a bunch sprint today. The final was pretty technical. The team put me in position perfectly, but it was hard to hold the position in the corners," Vos said after the finish.
I followed Romy’s [Kasper] wheel and she delivered me well in the last kilometer. I'm going to enjoy this win and tomorrow, during the rest day, we'll see what opportunities are left," said Vos. She holds the second position in GC just 6 seconds behind overall leader Elisa Balsamo.
