EF Education-EasyPost took their second win of the season at
Gran Camiño in Galicia after Stefan Bissegger opened up the team's tally for the 2022 season. Danish sprinter
Magnus Cort Nielsen was the fastest in the opening sprint in Vigo and has put on the leader's jersey for the second day.
"It couldn’t be any better for me and the team. It’s a very nice area to race in. We’ve been here before. There are some beautiful roads, and for me some nice hills, not too steep, so I can get over," Nielsen said in a post-race interview.
“The team really did a big job in supporting me. They believed in me. Since before the start, the plan was to go for me and everybody did their job. It was so nice to get so much support. Every single one of my teammates was working for me today, and that is quite special," he added.
Today Nielsen will be in the leader's jersey and will have to defend it up the brutal slopes of the Mirador de Ézaro. It's safe to say that likely he will not keep it, and the team will be looking to protect Hugh Carthy and Mark Padun on their GC ambitions.
