Lesson learned? "Never doubt your sprint," - Mads Follow the thread for a reaction from @Mads__Pedersen after his 5th place in the Stage 11 sprint finish. 👇
The eleventh stage of Vuelta a Espana concluded with the victory of Kaden Groves. Trek-Segafredo rider Mads Pedersen finished in fifth place in the bunch sprint.
"I lacked a bit of speed in the sprint. I didn't trust my long sprint, and I started too late, so I missed some speed. Never trust yourself," said Pedersen. He continues, "It was very hectic in the final kilometers. It's always like that when the last lane to the finish is long and straight, and the speed is high. Still, Alex Kirsch did a good job of putting me in Groves' wheel."
While he may have missed the victory, he was able to score some points along the way and defend his green jersey for one more stage. He still hopes to secure at least one stage win and promises to learn from his past mistakes. "You always have to think ahead. I can't change anything about my second place in the first week and today. I can only learn from my mistakes and look forward to the next opportunities. I am still very motivated to take them,” concluded Pedersen. He currently holds the 99th position in GC, 1 hour and 29 minutes behind overall leader Remco Evenepoel.
