Primoz Roglic is just one day away from a potential 4th career Vuelta a Espana win. On stage 20, the Slovenian had more than just his Red Jersey rivals to worry about though as illness struck in the Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe camp.

In total, three members of Roglic's support squad abandoned on stage 20: Daniel Martinez, Nico Denz and Patrick Gamper. Despite those concerns, Roglic himself looked relatively good, marking moves and eventually crossing the line in 3rd on the stage, comfortably holding onto his advantage in the general classification ahead of the final stage.

“The team was not at its best but everybody gave it their best, big respect, they just put everything they had," explains Roglic in his post-stage interview, admitting things were far from ideal for the team on stage 20. "Luckily I’m quite fine for the moment so it was a nice day."

On paper the strongest of all the GC leaders in the time trial, it's likely Roglic will actually extend his lead on stage 21 in Madrid. "We did quite a big work in these three weeks and we just have to finish it off. Let’s wait! We’re definitely one day closer, we’re going in the right direction but tomorrow is a real GC day," the Red Jersey concludes. "I always say I’m not a time trial specialist. I just have to give everything on the road.”
