2024 Vuelta a Espana GC Update after stage 20: Primoz Roglic all but secures red whilst less than a minute separate O'Connor, Mas & Carapaz heading into final time-trial

Stage 20 of the 2024 Vuelta a Espana was the last mountain stage and a big chance for movement up the general classification. In the end though, the fight for the podium looks even tighter than before.

Enric Mas almost overtook Ben O'Connor in the fight for second overall behind Primoz Roglic. The Spaniard got a 4-second bonus for finishing 2nd on the penultimate climb of the day, and another 6 seconds for finishing 2nd on the final climb. But between the difference and the bonuses, the Movistar Team leader was 9 seconds away from overtaking the Australian, who, in turn is now 58 seconds clear of 4th placed Richard Carapaz. Mattias Skjelmose holds onto the White Jersey, with rival Carlos Rodriguez the big loser of the day, dropping down to 10th overall.
