Luck does not favour bravery as Primoz Roglic crashes heavily in Vuelta a Espana sprint

The 16th stage of the Vuelta a Espana saw a dramatic finale, in which Primoz Roglic surprised in the final hilltop with an explosive attack which has seen differences created between some GC riders. The Jumbo-Visma rider led out the winning group into the sprint, but crashed in sight of the line.

Roglic saw Mads Pedersen launch the sprint, followed by Ackermann and van Poppel who completed the sprint, but an apparent touch of wheels took him down in the final meters of the stage. He crossed the line moments later, however clearly battered, with a deep set of gashes on his right arm and a lot of blood coming down from it.

He is believed to have finished with the same time as the first group, gaining eight seconds on the competition. Updates on the Slovenian's condition are to come soon...
