The
Vuelta a Burgos is a race that sees many riders come in with very different form with different goals in sight. The first stage usually finished atop the castle in the city of Burgos and it was the case once again in 2025, where
Roger Adrià was the strongest on stage 1 and rode to a strong stage win.
The Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe is also the first leader of the race in a finale that was quite explosive and dramatic. Carlos García Pierna and Dries de Bondt endangered the peloton's chances of winning the first day with a good breakaway. Samuel Fernandéz then had a solo attack in the final kilometers that took him all the way to the final kilometer.
But in the final hilltop finish it was Adrià who stood out, winning the spring against
Jordan Labrosse. Behind,
Isaac del Toro crashed in the final corner and
Giulio Ciccone couldn't avoid him, with the two men - the main favourites for the GC - losing time.
Afonso Eulálio rode to third on the day with a few meaningful gaps opening up behind.
