After a strong start to the season for Lotto Dstny’s young Belgian duo, Lennert Van Eetvelt and Maxim Van Gils are now set to lead the team at Strade Bianche this weekend.
Van Eetvelt showed his early season form with his victory in Trofeo Serra Tramuntana at the Challenge Mallorca, which he then backed up with his victory on Jebel Hafeet on the final stage of the UAE Tour, which secured him the overall victory at the race.
Van Gils was also able to show his form in February, as he took the victory in the time trial at the Vuelta a Andalucía, which was the only stage that was held, as the race was severely affected by local farmer protests. Over Opening Weekend, he took a fifth place finish at the Faun-Ardèche Classic, before finishing in third place at the Faun Drôme Classic the following day.
At Strade Bianche on Saturday, the pair will be supported by their Belgian compatriots Jenno Berckmoes, Arjen Livyns and Sylvain Moniquet, as well as Johannes Adamietz and Logan Currie.
Andreas Kron, who finished in tenth place at this race in 2023, is set to miss this year’s edition due to a minor injury that he sustained a couple of weeks ago, but Lotto Dstny have said that he will be returning to competition soon.
