Lennard Kämna: "I was expecting a really hard race and that’s what it definitely was"

Lennard Kämna has ridden to a surprising win at the German time-trial national championships, a strong result that comes in a very good period for the German where success has been piling on for months.
"I was expecting a really hard race and that’s what it definitely was! I knew from the last few training rides that my shape would be pretty good, but training is one thing and racing is another," Kämna said at the end of his effort. He beating Quick-Step's Jannik Steimle and his teammate Nils Politt to take the win in Germany, his fourth of the season.
"I felt pretty good right off the ramp and was able to follow the pacing plan that we discussed ahead of the race. Juniors, U23 and now the elite title - it feels pretty good, to be honest," the 25-year old described. After just renewing with BORA - hansgrohe, he now took a title that will be very important for the home team, and will be eyeing a new one this weekend.
