Laurens Huys will ride for Arkéa-B&B Hotels, as Arkéa-Samsic will be called from next year onwards. The 24-year old Belgian has signed a one-year contract with the French WorldTeam. The past two seasons, Huys rode for Intermarché-Circus-Wanty.
"Racing in France has always been a dream of mine," says Huys on the Arkéa-Samsic site. "If you want to become a professional, you must have worn the colors of a French team at some point. We have very nice races in Belgium and quite a few classics, but the French calendar is incredible, especially with the some of the most beautiful stage races of the calendar."
Huys is particularly happy to join Arkéa-Samsic. "I have a lot of ambition for 2024. I saw at the Giro how the team works, with the whole staff. That's what enticed me to make the move. I'm a climber puncher. Clément Champoussin is one of my friends in the peloton. My goal will be to help him win big races, or stages at grand tours."
