Groupama - FDJ's Lars van den Berg was a DNF at the 2024 Faun-Ardèche Classic on Saturday afternoon in France. Taking to X (Twitter), van den Berg has now explained the scary circumstances surrounding his crash.
"Yesterday during the race at Faun-Ardèche classic I became unwell which made me fell unconscious while riding my bike causing a crash directly after," the 25-year-old Dutchman reveals in his post. "The medical support of the race took great care of me and after was transported to the Valence hospital where I did some tests."
What brough on this sudden bout of unconsciousness is not yet known and is understandably, extremely concerning for van den Berg and his team. "Luckily I was free to go late in the evening. The medical experts of the team will now take charge of the following steps," he says. "What remains is a very scary experience, for me, my teammates and loved ones."
"To make clear, for the moment I feel well and look very optimistic towards the future," he concludes optimistically. "See you soon!!"
