La Tropicale Amissa Bongo, also called the Tour of Gabon, is traditionally one of the first cycling races of the season, but will not take place in January next year. The multi-day cycling race will be postponed to a later, as yet unknown date.
The next edition of La Tropicale Amissa Bongo was actually supposed to take place from January 22 to 28, 2024, but the plans have changed. It is still unclear why the organization has to look for a new, alternative place on the cycling calendar, although a coup was staged by the army a month ago, after the re-election of current president Ali Bongo.
This year the race was organized by Gabon in January, and the overall victory after seven stages went to Geoffrey Soupe. The experienced Frenchman from TotalEnergies was flanked on the final podium by his compatriot and teammate Jason Tesson and the Dane Alexander Salby.
