Key Evenepoel lieutenants Pieter Serry and Louis Vervaeke set to extend Soudal-Quick-Step contracts

A pair of Remco Evenepoel's key lieutenants are set to extend their expiring Soudal - Quick-Step contracts and confirm their intentions to help the current world road race champion achieve his goals for the foreseeable future.

According to Het Nieuwsblad, Soudal - Quick-Step are currently working hard behind the scenes to add more strength in depth to their climbing ranks in order to give Evenepoel the most possible support. With this in mind, Pieter Serry and Louis Vervaeke are both reportedly set to sign new deals.

Both riders are set to be by Evenepoel's side at the upcoming Giro d'Italia as the Belgian looks to add a Maglia Rosa to the ever-growing collection of big wins on his palmares. The 34-year-old Serry is a long-time servant of the Quick-Step set-up and has been with the team since 2013. Vervaeke meanwhile, may only be in his second campaign with Patrick Lefevere's team but has clearly impressed enough to warrant receiving an extension.

The Het Nieuwsblad report goes on to say that the next contract extension being handed out by Soudal - Quick-Step is likely to go the way of Ilan van Wilder. With Lefevere hoping to tie down the 22-year-old Belgian to a long term deal.
