The fourth stage of the Critérium du Dauphiné consisted of a 31.9km long and relatively flat individual time trial. While Filippo Ganna took the win, Wilco Kelderman put in strong performances among the GC contenders.
He consolidated his position in the overall classification ahead of the crucial Alpine stages andsits in 11th in the GC ahead of the second half of the race. “It was a long, tough, and most of all a pretty flat time trial. I’m still missing some hours on the TT bike this season but I’m happy with my performance today," he said after a ride that earned him a 15th place on the day.
"Ahead of the second part of the Dauphiné, I think it’s still an open race for me and I’m looking forward to the mountains.” he concluded. The next two stages should see things calm down in terms of the overall classification, but that will come before two high mountain stages which will put the Dutchman to the test.
