Keep them coming! Red Bull linked to the signing of a German climbing talent with noble lineage

In recent years, Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe's project has attracted several of cycling world's top up and coming names. Led by Tour de France runner-up Remco Evenepoel, the team of Ralph Denk hopes to accomplish it's great objective of winning Grande Boucle. Ideally with a German rider. And Georg Steinhauser might prove to be the missing piece of the puzzle, BILD reports.
Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe have been one of the most aggressive players on transfer market ever since the arrival of the beverage giant.
In 2024, they have acquired Primoz Roglic and Daniel Martínez. In 2025 Giulio Pellizzari joined. And finally ahead of 2026 season, the German formation bought out Remco Evenepoel's contract at Soudal - Quick-Step to seemingly complete its GC lineup. And next year, a super-talented Lorenzo Finn joins their ranks.
Next to these superstar names as well as Florian Lipowitz and Jai Hindley, Steinhauser will not claim a leadership role from the get-go. Rather, he should become an important cog in the mountain train, patiently awaiting own opportunities.

Georg Steinhauser comes from a well-known German cycling family; his uncle is Germany's last and only overall champion Jan Ullrich (1997) and his father Tobias finished 5th at the 2000 World Championships. But the 24-year-old carves his own path.
After two years with Tirol KTM - where he raced alongside Florian Lipowitz - the German joined WorldTour with EF Education-EasyPost. Over the five seasons, Steinhauser established himself as a talented climber with a knack for big breakaways. In 2024, he confirmed this with a stage win at the Giro d'Italia stage 17, following a 34-kilometer solo ride.
In 2026, Steinhauser debuted at the Tour de France, but his role was less substantial after a complicated preparation period. That was a shame because Steinhauser displayed a high level during spring, including an overall podium at the Paris-Nice.

- He really was an amazing young rider, third in his first Vuelta like Pogi. But he has had problems ever since. That is another aspect of Pog that seems super-human, is that he has survived the hard side of UAE. Like now, they had no need to push (pull) Del Toro to a secure podium spot when he was ill. - Technically EPO wasn't commercially introduced until 1989 when it received FDA approval. Although it was used for clinical trials from 1985 to 1989, there is no doubt it found it's way into some athletes veins but it wasn't truly used until Indurain's era, we know Big Mig was on the kit from 1990 until he retired.awp29-07-2026
- Sorry, I'm going to have to disagree. LA won a stage in his first TdF at 21 then won the worlds later that year. He was phenominally talented. I don't really respect the guy, but if you gave him a level playing field with todays riders, I'm not sure he would not win just as many. Maybe not though, since the TdF has decided time trialing is no longer important.cdw29-07-2026
