Juan Ayuso without "significant injury or concussion" after Itzulia Basque Country crash

On a dramatic day of racing at the 2024 Itzulia Basque Country on stage 3, a number of big-name riders were caught up in potentially race-ending crashes. One of these was Juan Ayuso, but thankfully, signs are positive.

"He has suffered abrasions to his left arm & bruises to hip," writes UAE Team Emirates in an official update of their leader's condition post-stage via their social media channels. "But thankfully, no other significant injury or concussion."

Despite his crash, Ayuso managed to finish stage 3, not losing any time and starts stage 4, still very much in the mix for overall victory. The Spaniard sits 4th in the general classification, just 14 seconds down on overall leader, Primoz Roglic, who himself was caught up in a crash.
