Juan Ayuso wins Tour de Luxembourg time-trial as Mathieu van der Poel jumps back into yellow jersey

The time-trial of the Tour de Luxembourg proved to be a very difficult day and key for the overall classification. Juan Ayuso won stage 4 in a strong performance whilst Mathieu van der Poel also rode strongly and took over the race lead over Mauri Vansevenant.

The 15-kilometer time-trial was always going to be very important for the overall classification, and it included a climb that would mix things up. Mads Pedersen set a strong early time before the GC riders set off, actually putting himself in a position to win a second stage win.

His time was only beaten by Juan Ayuso by 11 seconds, a time that was the main one for the day. Antonio Tiberi came a close second by 7 seconds, both of them climbing up the GC and threatening the yellow jersey of Mauri Vansevenant who thrived the day before.

Marc Hirschi put in a strong time to finish 14 seconds behind Ayuso and Mathieu van der Poel was 19 seconds slower. Mauri Vansevenant was not able to defend himself too well, shedding serious time,
