Juan Ayuso could be set to race the Giro d'Italia 2025 - Will he finally be able to step out of Tadej Pogacar's shadow?

According to the Gazzetta dello Sport, UAE Team Emirates would like Juan Ayuso to race the Giro d'Italia 2025. However, it is not something that is confirmed at this stage of the preseason. He could be joined by Mexican Isaac del Toro, but again these details aren't yet confirmed.
The Valencian has raced one grand tour per year since he has been with UAE: the Vuelta a España in 2022 and 2023 and the Tour de France in 2024. In the Spanish round he was third in his debut and fourth in the year of the Jumbo-Visma triplet.
In the Grande Boucle he had to abandon due to Covid when he was very high in the general classification. We'll see if this year the plans change with him and he ends up participating in the corsa rosa, we don't know if as a leader or if the team will end up sending Joao Almeida or Adam Yates, but at this time it doesn't look like Tadej Pogacar will return to the race in Italy.
