Simon Yates has taken overall victory of the 2024 AlUla Tour in Saudi Arabia after the Team Jayco AlUla leader took the win on a thrilling fifth and final stage.
With a brutal rise within the final 15km bringing the GC men to the fore, Soudal - Quick-Step youngster, William Junior Lecerf was the first to really try and put the pressure on with an attack. The Belgian was caught just before the summit however, and joined by Simon Yates and UAE Team Emirates duo, Finn Fisher-Black and Rafal Majka.
With 6km still to go following the climb, GC was still all to play for. All four entered the final kilometre locked together, and in a thrilling final sprint it was Yates who took the win ahead of Lecerf and Fisher-Black to pinch the general classification triumph for himself.
