João Almeida has become the new individual time-trial champion of Portugal after taking victory at the National Championships by 35 seconds ahead of UAE Team Emirates teammate, Ivo Oliveira.
It is the second time in the career of the 24-year-old that he has taken the national jersey for races against the clock. Previously Almeida won the title in 2021. In 2022, Almeida also won the Portuguese road-race and the chances of a brilliant double success this time remain.
