The collapse of B&B Hotels-KTM was one of the big stories of this winter, one of which details are still rather vague. Former team director Jerôme Pineau has hinted that he will soon tell more about the story, with details coming out more regarding the French team's demise.
"It's too early, but I'm going to. I'll share my thoughts in a few weeks. I hope to do that a little before the start of Paris-Nice. I must. I have to re-establish certain things," Pineau told L'Équipe.
The report detailed how the team was very close to agreeing with both the city of Paris and cosmetic company Sephora for €10 and €15 million euros respectively at different parts of the process, and how the days before the team's scheduled presentation there were equipments designed and ready to reveal, but were called off last-minute by the company.
Vice-president of Bretagne Pierre Pouliquen has also added that "it was important to associate Brittany with this team. That's why we accepted to loan that sum which served as an obligatory guarantee for the UCI. Even when, in May, I approached Pineau to remind him of the story of the €900,000 loan, he said nothing."
