The
Tour of Turkey began with a sprint stage into Antalya but the result was no surprise.
Alpecin-Deceuninck did a textbook leadout and
Jasper Philipsen won the opening stage with comfort.
The lack of quality leadouts in the field saw Alpecin come to the front at the idea time and no team could really contest the front of the peloton. Ramon Sinkeldam launched the sprint of Philipsen, who had a comfortable gap over the finish line, beating
Gleb Syritsa and
Timothy Dupont.
