Jonas Vingegaard has talked about the
Vuelta a Espana in a press release issued by
Jumbo-Visma. The overall win is Jumbo-Visma's goal and he will be teaming up with
Primoz Roglic to achieve that.
"We need each other to achieve our ultimate goal. It's a very technical course. We have the riders for this kind of work. I'm looking forward to opening with a team time trial and hopefully getting a good result immediately," Vingegaard said in a press release.
The Dane has just gotten off a a victory at the Tour de France which deems his season successful. The main goal was accomplished and with that on the bag he began to eye the Vuelta a Espana. He has not trained in altitude, the preparation is very different than comparing to the Tour, but the route will - as any Grand Tour - suit him.
"It's a tough edition with stages that should suit us. We will have to see how my form is in the first week. It's always hard to predict how your legs will feel after rest. I feel good now and am curious how my body will react in the first stages," he adds.
Jumbo-Visma will be very strong, a support lineup including the likes of Sepp Kuss, Wilco Kelderman and Dylan van Baarle among others. However with Primoz Roglic will be the key part of the team, as both are contenders for the overall win.
"It's not the first time we start a stage race as teammates," the Dane assures, with no worries over a possible clash of interests. "It has worked well with overall victories in the Vuelta a Espana and the Critérium du Dauphiné. We proved there that we have a good working relationship. We are both looking forward to it.”
