Maintaining his overall lead at the Critérium du Dauphiné,
Christophe Laporte was unable to double-up with back-to-back stage wins. Nevertheless, a fourth-placed finish and another lead-out from
Jonas Vingegaard mean it was still a successful day.
"The team did really well, just like in the opening stage,” Laporte revealed to the official website of the
Jumbo-Visma team. “Unfortunately my legs were just not good enough to win at the end. It was a really tough stage. In the last five kilometres, it was full. It was definitely not the plan for Jonas to do a lead-out for me again, but he did a fantastic job again. Unfortunately, I couldn't reward the team today.”
