Laurence Pithie has seen himself launched into the overall race lead and the Maillot Jaune.
"It just keeps getting better this season," Pithie smiles, having already impressed at the Tour Down Under and won the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race in the early part of this year. "I am super happy to be wearing the Yellow Jersey."
Although not an out-and-out sprinter, Pithie has shown some very impressive speed on the opening two stages, finishing third behind Olav Kooij and Mads Pedersen on Sunday before finishing runner-up to Arvid De Kleijn on stage 2.
"I was keeping myself towards the front, following the trains and Sven Erik Bystrøm came forward at a really crucial moment and was able to put me in a good position. Then I just had to fight," he recaps. "I followed the Tudor train and thankfully it was the right one to follow today."
