“It is a very important step for our project” - TDT-Unibet given wildcard entry to Amstel Gold Race

After their meteoric rise, TDT-Unibet have been given a wildcard entry to the Amstel Gold Race in April, for what will be their first WorldTour race since the team’s formation in 2023. The Dutch team, which is run in part by YouTube sensation and former rider Bas Tietema, were promoted to UCI ProTeam status at the start of the year, after only one season in the UCI Continental ranks.

In an interview with WielerFlits, reacting to his team’s wildcard invite Tietema said “It is a very important step for our project. People who have not yet found us are now getting to know us at the highest level”.

On what the team can do in the sport, the former professional cyclist said “I do believe that the way we are set up, we will have a new way of putting cycling on the map in the future. Including the media aspect. I believe in that very much, but that doesn't mean that everyone in the cycling world does. That is why we are very happy with the Amstel Gold Race”.
