After a really impressive performance at the final round of the UCI World Cup in Hoogerheide last weekend, where she finished in second place behind Fem van Empel in a sprint to the line, many thought that Kata Blanka Vas could be a contender for this weekend’s Cyclocross World Championships in Tábor.

However, according to CyclingUpToDate’s Lukáš Ronald Lukács (@lucasaganronald on Twitter), the Hungarian rider is set to miss the race on Saturday due to illness, as she was not able to train on Wednesday. The official decision is set to be made on Friday ahead of the race the next day.

BAD NEWS 😢 Blanka Vas is sick, she does not feel good. She was not able to train yesterday and at the moment it looks like, that she won’t be at the start of the World Championship race on Saturday. The official decision will be made on Friday, but it does not look good.
