23-year-old Australian Matthew Dinham was one of the most impressive riders in the men's elite World Championship road race. After being part of the early breakaway, Dinham was able to keep contact with the elite riders and held on for a 7th-placed finish.
"It was a really crazy day. I was probably meant to be the first rider to work for the team and went on the offensive in that early move, which ended up paying off towards the end of the race," Dinham, who usually rides for Team DSM-Firmenich said in his post-race interview.

Yet to taste success at a professional level yet, this is arguably the biggest result in the young Australian's career. Michael Matthews was expected to be the big hope for the Aussies and Dinham admits that he didn't quite believe the company he was keeping towards the end of the race.
"I'm pretty ecstatic," he says delightedly. "I'm still pinching myself a little bit, but I'll try to enjoy the moment and worry about the rest later on."
