Matej Mohoric has talked to RTV Slo during his off-season in Slovenia where he talked about doping, Tadej Pogacar and Jonas Vingegaard, but also the upcoming
Tour de France's gravel stage and goals for 2024. Some of which he already announced, but a few he puts further emphasis on.
"I don't know if they are necessarily happy if someone resigns because then they lose the overall favorite. So the following stages lose their charm, where the race is supposed to be decided, in the mountains," Mohoric told the Slovenian news outlet. "One year it happened that only Nibali remained. When Nibali won, everyone else who was the pre-race favorite fell. It wasn't the best advertisement for the race itself. We don't want that. I'm not sure if gravel sections have a place in a road race like the Tour de France."
