Overcome with emotion following his victory, Mohoric broke down into tears dedicating the stage win to his much-missed Bahrain - Victorious teammate Gino Mader, who had passed away just weeks earlier following a fatal crash at the Tour de Suisse, and delving deep into the mental struggles that come with riding in the peloton at the highest level.
"Big benefit for us to have him with Primož Roglic at the Tour instead" - Jai Hindley unlikely to be appearing at the 2024 Giro d'Italia
The gracious, heartfelt and inspiring nature of the interview resonated with everyone who saw it and after Mohoric was among those honoured at the Slovenian Cyclist of the Year awards show, he was of course, asked about the iconic moment.
“My heart still beats faster when I watch the video,” he recalls. "I think it's great that the speech has inspired so many people. To do something good for themselves, to set high goals, to chase dreams."
