EOLO-Kometa riders Lorenzo Fortunato and
Vincenzo Albanese were counted among the top favorites in advance in the battle for the mountains classification and the points classification respectively.
After nine stages, Fortunato has been saving up his energy for second and third week as that's the main focus of the Italian team. Albanese, on the other hand, showed himself several times in front, finishing fourth on the stage to Lago Laceno in the opening days of the race. Albanese has already finished 4th twice and 7th once in this
Giro d'Italia.
