Having joined Uno-X as the team’s new General Manager at the start of the season,
Thor Hushovd is hoping to continue the Norwegian team’s rise in the sport after replacing Jens Haugland, who had been in the role since 2017.
In an interview with Discovery, Hushovd said “I think it's an exciting and fun challenge. It is an opportunity to take over a cycling team with a very good organisation. I'm just looking forward to really getting started on this”.
On rejoining the sport after his retirement as a rider in 2014, the former World Champion stated that “I noticed it when I was watching the Mallorca Challenge and saw Kristoff sprinting into a strong second place. Then I got that feeling again, and I haven't had it that way for a long time because I haven't been as involved. But it's a nice feeling”.
After sixteen years as a professional rider, this is Hushovd’s first role as a team manager. On his new role, the Norwegian said “I am entering a world of professional cycling that I have lived in for many, many years, but it is clear that it is something else to run a cycling team with so many employees. At the same time, there are many people in Uno-X who do a fantastic job and who have their roles, so it's not like I'm going to change the world and their everyday life”.
