Holy spokes! Pope Francis' Pinarello Dogma F12 gifted by Egan Bernal fails to reach divine auction estimates

After winning the 2021 Giro d'Italia, Egan Bernal took a visit to the Vatican and gifted Pope Francis a custom Pinarello Dogma F12, adorned in the colours of Argentina, the Pope's homeland.

Recently however, we brought you news that the bike had been spotted at an online auction site. Now, that auction has concluded and the final price for the one-of-a-kind Pinarello Dogma F12 has been revealed with the papal state garnering a profit of €14,000 on the item gifted to them by the Colombian climber of the INEOS Grenadiers for free.

Whilst that sounds like a good deal for Pope Francis and the Vatican's financial department, it's revealed by GCN that the €14,000 tally was actually some way short of experts' estimations as they valued the bike at between €25,000 and €30,000.
