Tadej Pogacar confirmed at the start of Amstel Gold Race that he would race Flèche Wallone and the lineup for
UAE Team Emirates has been announced. The Slovenian takes part in the second of the Ardennes classics with the intention of taking a second win and he should be the man to beat.
Pogacar won Amstel Gold Race in dominant fashion, just as he had the Tour of Flanders two weeks before. Flèche Wallone is a different type of effort, with the brutal gradients of the Mur de Huy the most decisive spot of the race. Pogacar has ninth as his best career result in the Belgian classic but is hoping to come out victorious and within a shot of winning all three classics.
Supporting him will be the only rider at the start line who has won the race in the past
Marc Hirschi, but also
Diego Ulissi,
George Bennett and
Felix Grossschartner who should be his main support men until the final climb.
Vegard Stake Laengen and
Michael Vink conclude the lineup for the UAE team.
UAE Team Emirates for Flèche Wallone:
Tadej Pogacar, George Bennett, Felix Grossschartner, Marc Hirschi, Vegard Stake Laengen, Diego Ulissi and Michael Vink.
