Giro d'Italia | Miguel Ángel López returns to Giro d'Italia in seek of success for Astana Qazaqstan Team

Miguel Ángel López hasn't taken to the start of the Giro d'Italia since 2019, in an edition in which he was hampered by bad luck. Now back at Astana Qazaqstan Team, he will return to the Giro with high ambitions for the overall classification and a strong team to back him up.

The Colombian has been taking a calm approach to the race, as was seen in the Tour of the Alps where he dropped out of the battle for the GC, to comeback and win a stage two days later in which he distanced the race's top climbers. López has raced the Giro three times, and will count with a lot of support in the mountains where the race is set to be decided.

Vincenzo Nibali will be starting his 11th Giro and is just about one of the most experienced riders to back-up the Colombian. Together with David de la Cruz they should be the most reliable support in the mountains, however the team has not held back on domestiques who can do this kind of job.

Whilst Fabio Felline will be given the role of road captain, López will also count on the likes of Joe Dombrowski, Vadim Pronskiy and Harold Tejada who complete the Kazakh squad.

Astana Qazaqstan Team for Giro d'Italia: Miguel Ángel López, Vincenzo Nibali, David de la Cruz, Joe Dombrowski, Vadim Pronskiy, Fabio Felline, Harold Tejada and Valerio Conti.
