GC Update Tour de Suisse 2024 stage 7: Adam Yates and João Almeida extend lead even further after dominating climb

We have lived a queen stage at the Tour de Suisse without surprises in which Adam Yates has beaten Joao Almeida, thus consolidating his first place in the general classification before the final time trial on Sunday. The Briton and the Portuguese rode hand in hand at the finish line making it clear that they have a good vibe and that in the Tour de France they will be a team for Tadej Pogacar.

Egan Bernal remains comfortably in third place overall with almost a minute advantage over Mattias Skjelmose, who should hold on in the time trial. Yates should also hold off Almeida in the fight for yellow, although it must be said that the Portuguese rider is looking better than ever in Switzerland.

Fourth is Mattias Skjelmose and the change comes later as Enric Mas, for the second consecutive day, has lost positions in the general classification and is now sixth behind Matthew Riccitello. We'll see if tomorrow he is able to gain some position in the time trial or, otherwise, lose it to Tom Pidcock who is half a minute behind him. The bad news does not end there for Movistar Team as Pelayo Sanchez has dropped out of a top 10 that closes Oscar Onley, Felix Gall and Wilco Kelderman.
