Former World champion Chantal van den Broek-Blaak announces pregnancy and future racing plans

One of the biggest names in women's cycling, Chantal van den Broek-Blaak is set to miss the majority if not all of the 2023 season after announcing she is set to become a mother, with the baby due in May 2023.

A former World Champion from back in 2017, van den Broek-Blaak has also tasted victory at Gent-Wevelgem in 2016, the Amstel Gold Race in 2018 and Strade Bianche in 2021.

Now though, the SD Worx rider looks set to be absent from the 2023 season after announcing that she is pregnant. However, following the example of Lizzie Deignan and other pros in the peloton, she has hinted that she will aim for a return later on in her career. CyclingUpToDate congratulates van den Broek-Blaak in her new journey.
