"Finally I was able to finish it off" - Joy at last for Marc Soler at the 2024 Vuelta a Espana

After repeated attempts over the last few days at the 2024 Vuelta a Espana, the victory has finally arrived for Marc Soler after a great performance in the breakaway during the final climb to Lagos de Covadonga on stage 16.

The UAE Team Emirates rider gives Spanish cycling its third victory of the edition (after the two of Pablo Castrillo), after being better than Max Poole and Filippo Zana, the only two rivals left in the battle for victory in the breakaway.

Right after finishing the stage, Soler greeted the media, and could not hide his joy for such a success at the iconic Lagos de Covadonga: "I'm excited. In the end there were many times to the post and finally I was able to finish it off", began saying the Spanish UAE rider.

"I tried it several times, Max Poole too and I was able to take the lead. They are high level breakaways but I knew I had one or two attacks, I tried it once and continued at a great pace and the other time I attacked without looking back," added Marc Soler in reference to his final attack for the victory with less than 4 km to go.
