INEOS Grenadiers are days away from announcing their lineup for the
Tour de France and
Egan Bernal will, baring any mishap, be there.
Ciro Scognamiglio of Gazzetta dello Sport has reported that sources near him have confirmed the Colombian have confirmed he's on the list. This comes as no surprise following the results of the past few weeks, but also Bernal's recon rides of the Puy de Dôme climb alongside Jonas Vingegaard and David Gaudu before the Criterium du Dauphiné, and the recon of the time-trial after the French race.
Whilst after a tough spring riddled with a knee injury his plans seemed to change and instead focus on the Vuelta a Espana, an 8th place at the Tour de Romandie and then too the Tour de Hongrie changed plans. As both Carlos Rodríguez and Daniel Martínez struggle with consistency, there is no clear leader within INEOS for the Tour and the Colombian rode to 12th at the Dauphiné.
Aiming for a win, or podium, seems unrealistic at this point, but the 26-year old could aim for a spot at the Top10. Certainly he will take the return to the race in itself as an incomparable victory, however there is no reason not to believe that he wouldn't be able to frequently ride alongside the best.
