Problems for cycling in one of the most traditional countries emerge. The Dutch Cycling Federation is more than worried about the future of many of the races held in the country due to the lack of motorized police officers to control the events. The Dutch National Police has cancelled the use of motorcycle officers to control traffic at cycling races.
This decision by the police puts the organization of cycling races in check, which will more than likely lead to a change of date and the cancellation of many races (especially below WorldTour level). Although it doesn't have the presence in the top of the calendar of neighbor countries, Amstel Gold Race takes place in the country - and the BinkBank Tour does as well frequently. A cycling nation, it has the potential of becoming a very complicated situation.
Races planned in the Netherlands by the UCI in the coming months
- Arno Wallaard Memorial (15/04)
- Amstel Gold Race (16/04)
- Ronde van Overijssel (06/05)
- Veenendaal-Veenendaal Classic (20/05)
- ZLM Tour (from 07/06)
- Midden-Brabant Poort Omoop (02/07)
- Slag om Norg (15/07)
- Ronde van de Achterhoek (27/08)
