Davide Formolo has won the 76th edition of the Coppa Agostoni, ending a long wait for victory after a late solo attack.
Heading into the final 40km, a group of four riders held a narrow advantage over nine elite chasers. After Marc Hirschi attacked from the chase group and bridged the gap though, that time gap began to extend outwards. Alongside Hirschi at the front were his teammate Davide Formolo, Warren Barguil, Victor Lafay and Chris Harper.
With just over 10km to go, Formolo made his move. The chase behind was stalling with none of the chasers to keen on bringing Hirschi back to the front with them. With 3km to go, the Italian was clear by 22 seconds and that lead proved unassailable. Formolo the winner, with Hirschi and Lafay completing the podium from the chasers behind.
