Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl Team rider Davide Ballerini won the fourth stage of the Tour de Wallonie. He beat José Joaquín Rojas and Ivo Oliveira to secure the victory.
He was in the breakaway of six and stayed together with José Joaquin Rojas and Rui Oliveira on the final climb. Ballerini ultimately won the sprint. "I felt very good. I know I can sprint well, but you never know how good the others are," said Ballerini.
"It was very difficult today,” said Ballerini. He continues, “Suddenly, we lost five minutes of our lead in 20 kilometers, so I knew it was going to be difficult. But we kept riding and wanted to stay together until the end. Only someone from Trek-Segafredo came back on the last climb. There we had a ten-second lead, but we held on and made it to the finish," Ballerini describes.
The final sprint was between Ballerini, Rojas, and Oliveria ." I knew I was the fastest in the breakaway, but I also know Oliveira is fast. That's why I made the most of it," concluded Ballerini. He holds 57th position in GC,14 minutes and 51 seconds behind overall leader Robert Stannard.
