CERATIZIT-WNT Pro Cycling Team's
Daniek Hengeveld has sensationally opened the 2025 women's World Tour season with a stunning, solo breakaway stage win.
With a tough, challenging parcour taking the riders from Brighton to Snapper Point, Hengveld spent 50km on the attack, having a near three minute lead at one point. Despite the chase increasing in speed towards the finale and cutting the Dutchwoman's lead to just 36 seconds at the line, Hengveld held off the peloton to take the stage win ahead of
Ally Wollaston and
Kathrin Schweinberger, and moves into the lead of the
Tour Down Under.
Elsewhere, Alyssa Polites holds the young rider's jersey and the Queen of the Mountains, marking a strong day for the Australian rider.
