The Tour de France has lost three riders this morning already as Israel - Premier Tech announced the departure of Simon Clarke due to a positive Covid-19 test.
After Magnus Cort Nielsen suffered the same consequences and had to abandon the race this morning, Clarke, the winner of stage five into Arenberg, has tested positive in the team's internal testing. Although the Covid-19 surge at the Tour de France seems to still be relatively in control, further riders are having to leave the race because of it.
Clarke got a last-minute contract for this season with the Israeli team which ended up giving him the chance to take the most important win of his career. He was in the breakaway of the fifth stage - the first to succeed at the Tour - and outsprinted Taco van der Hoorn to win in what was a tense and dramatic day.
